Vote YES on D for Public Safety & Local Control in Downey
Vote YES on D to maintain fast 911 emergency response times and protect essential community services to maintain our great quality of life here in Downey.
Downey is one of the few cities in the region to be a full-service city, including having its own police and fire departments. Without sufficient funding to maintain these services, the look, feel and safety of our community may be impacted.
Vote YES on D to maintain local control of our fire and police departments – vital public safety services. Measure D will provide funding and resources for our first responders, local city parks, road maintenance as well as youth and senior programs to preserve the highest quality of life in our community.
100% of Measure D funds will stay here in Downey. Currently, most sales tax revenue generated in Downey goes to the State or County. Measure D will keep more of our local sales tax funds here, dedicated to emergency services, improved roads and essential city services.
Essential purchases like groceries and prescription medicine are exempt from sales tax, ensuring the cost isn’t a burden to residents on fixed or limited incomes.
